About 

Off the beaten path is a small local company founded by me, Rögnvaldur, and based in south east Iceland. 

Growing up in Iceland I have always enjoyed going out into nature and exploring new areas of the country. 

After finishing school and moving to the capital city, I found that guiding in the outdoors was a great way to get out into nature almost every day, and it's what I've been doing ever since. 

In this time I've guided most things that are offered in Iceland, everything from the glacier activities, ski touring, hiking, ice climbing, driving snowmobiles to lava caving, kayaking and snorkeling. 

Moving to the south east I then realized how many unique places and experiences the area has to offer, and that's how the idea for this company and the tours to the south east came to be.
